Performance Outline

The Wind from Mongolia by Yang Bang-earn

Piano Maestro Yang Bang-earn embraces East and West, past and contemporary music in a harmony that takes audience to Mongolia with his new timeless music.

In relation to the exhibition titled Empires of the Mongolian Steppes, a special performance is shown by Yang Bang-earn, piano maestro. Unlike his performances of trio bras and string quartet of years past, this performance delivers the beauty of minimal sound.

Through this intended minimal sound, the wind from Mongolian grass comes alive, telling the history and legends of the old empire.

With Yang Bang-ean’s piano at center, various players of base, guitar, percussion, cello, taepyongso, and vocalists join in. In particular, musicians of the Chinese traditional instrument erhu adds a more exotic mood to the performance.

Yang Ban-earn has become more famous globally after his work as music director of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. This performance will give audiences a rare chance to listen to one of his most exclusive concerts.
